October 1, 2012 – National Physical Therapy Month

If you are one of many people who experience low back pain, for example, a physical therapist can help. According to the 2011 “AARP Bulletin Survey on Exercise,” approximately 7 in 10 adults age 45 and older (71%) are physically active. September 1, 2012 – Child Obesity Awareness Month (COAM)

In the past four decades, obesity rates in the United States have soared among all age groups. This rise in obesity rates has affected our youth in alarming fashion. Childhood obesity has increased more than fourfold among those ages 6 to 11. More than 23 million children and teenagers in the United States ages 2 to 19 are obese or overweight, a statistic that health and medical experts consider an epidemic. And this epidemic puts nearly one third of America’s children at early risk for Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease and even stroke – conditions usually associated with adulthood.

August 6, 2012 – Sandbag training now at Strive

Last week we added the ViPR to our arsenal of tools. Now, this week we added the Ultimate Sandbag. We hope to continue to make fitness fun and challenging for everyone. Sandbag training adds an unique element to training. Why are sandbags unique though? Sandbags can be thought of as the most “uncooperative” pieces of equipment. They are different because they will change their form as you lift them. Unlike many other training tools, it is almost impossible to develop a specific groove for any lift. This makes sandbags a constant challenge as every repetition will be vastly different.
